Bio Buffs Take First Place at 2026 RMWEA Student Design Competition

The 2026 RMWEA Student Design Competition was held on April 24th and featured strong performances from all three competing teams: the Bio Buffs from the University of Colorado, and HydroLogic and Rocky Mountain Reclaim from the Colorado School of Mines. Congratulations to the Bio Buffs for earning first place in the 2026 competition! The BioBuffs team members included Jenna Blatchford, Elyse Panagakos, Colin Yeh, Julia Dykstra, and Molly Monroe. This annual event challenges student teams to develop solutions to real-world wastewater treatment design problems, and this year’s winning team showcased exceptional creativity, technical skill, and professionalism. As first-place winners, the Bio Buffs will receive a funded trip to compete in the National Student Design Competition at WEFTEC.
