Education and Training
RMWEA committees sponsor seminars and conferences in various locations with different formats. Our Annual Conference includes 3 days of technical meetings on a variety of water quality issues, new technology, and case studies. Exhibitors show state-of-the-art equipment and services. Many one-day seminars are also held by Association Committees throughout the year.
The Bill Martin Scholarship Fund was established to encourage students who wish to pursue higher education in the water environment field by providing a scholarship at his/her college or university.
Public Outreach
RMWEA is actively involved in educating the public about water and environmental issues. Our outreach programs include judging at state science fairs, presenting displays at science and education conferences, providing speakers for schools and public presentations, distributing water environment curriculums to elementary students, presenting news media training workshops, and supporting environmental programs at local schools.
Professional Development
Coordinating a committee provides opportunities for developing your management and leadership skills. In addition, participating in technical presentations enhances your communications skills and promotes your expertise in the water quality field. Attending seminars and conferences also contributes credit toward professional development and training hours.
Recognition
RMWEA members receive numerous awards and honors for their service to the profession and to the Association. Our Awards Committee coordinates the nomination and selection of various awards for outstanding achievements in wastewater treatment operation, collection operations, maintenance, and laboratory services. Our members also receive recognition from the WEF for their individual service to the Federation and professional contributions to the water quality field.
Peer Support and Networking
RMWEA provides opportunities through conferences, committee activities, and social events to build a professional network. Participating in RMWEA and WEF activities results in new skills, valuable contacts, information exchange, and new friends
Technical Publications
Most RMWEA membership categories include subscriptions to internationally recognized publications. WEF memberships include a subscription to your choice of Water Environment Technology or Water Environment Research. Other periodicals provide the latest information on environmental laboratory solutions, industrial wastewater treatment, and regulatory updates. In addition, WEF offers over 180 Manuals of Practice and training materials on topics such as nutrient control, solids management, treatment plant operation and management, waste minimization, and hazardous waste site remediation.
