The CSM student chapter is the first AWWA/WEF chapter founded in Colorado in spring 2003. The purpose of the student chapter is to provide a forum for undergraduate and graduate students for the exchange of information and ideas through networking and mentoring between students, faculty, and professionals of AWWA and WEF. Students interested in future job opportunities in the water community meet with the full spectrum of occupations: treatment plant operators, managers, scientists, environmentalists, manufacturers, academicians and regulators. |

We are soliciting abstracts on student research to be presented at the conference. Any undergraduate, MS, or PhD student is eligible to submit an abstract on their academic research activities. This can include laboratory studies, field work, class projects, and/or modeling. We welcome and encourage a broad range of topics that are directly or indirectly related to water including surface water, groundwater, reclaimed water, or seawater. For topics that fall outside of the traditional scope of drinking water/wastewater treatment, this is a great way to get your research represented to a mainstream audience. Conference Highlights
Selection Criteria The conference committee will select oral presentations based on originality, clarity, technical content (procedures, methodology, data, conclusions, etc.), and the widespread significance/applicability of the topic. Oral presentations will be 15-20 minutes long. Authors will have the option to present a poster by choice or if their abstract was not accepted for oral presentation. If an individual is not a member of a donating consulting or engineering firm, but would still like to attend the conference then please visit the RMWEA website at www.rmwea.org and click on the registration tab. Attendees The main goal of the student conference is to provide students from universities in Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico an opportunity to present their ongoing research in the fields of water, wastewater, groundwater remediation, water resources, and sustainability/energy-water nexus. It provides students an opportunity to enhance and promote their professional skills, experience, and leadership; exchange knowledge between students from different schools and between students and local professionals; promote students’ involvement in professional organizations, and exposure to potential employers. Registration fees include the cost of a catered lunch and evening BBQ on the river. |
